Experience the best marriage of art and science on the water. Merrimack pioneered blending beautiful wood with durable composites in 1954 and we are still the best today, crafting one custom boat at a time for paddlers as unique as the canoes they design. Light weight and excellent performance make them a joy to use, and their beauty make them a joy to own.

Merrimack has now joined forces with Sanborn Canoe to produce canoes that are works of art, but still ready for a day on the water. To the left is an example of one of the spectacular Sanborn designs, the Scout pattern. To see all the options, visit the Sanborn website: https://sanborncanoe.com/

Below are the models that will be in stock at White Rose Canoe for the 2022 paddling season.  To see the full line or for more information, visit the Merrimack website: https://merrimackcanoes.com/

Souhegan, carbon/kevlar, Driftless Blue, Cherry&Ash woodwork ———- $3000

The 16’ Souhegan has much in common with its little brother the Tennesean. Its flat-bottomed profile combined with a keel running the length of the boat makes for a canoe that tracks extremely well empty or loaded on flat water or in slow currents, making it an ideal lake and cabin canoe for time spent with the family on the water, while stepping up the total capacity vs. its smaller sibling. Superbly stable, this is the ideal choice for those with younger children or pets joining them on canoe adventures, and offers sufficient carrying space for a long weekend trip without resupply. Despite its capacity and stability, the Souhegan still comes in at less than 60 pounds. Kevlar/Carbon Fiber is expertly put together under a striking gel coat to create a perfect blend of weight, rigidity, and durability, and then finished off with stunning Cherry ribs to add an additional helping of both beauty and strength. Hardwood ash and cherry appointments from the gunnels to the yoke round out the canoe, lending it a timeless look that will hold up for years to come.

Traveler, carbon/kevlar, Dalles Des Mortes pattern, Cherry&Ash woodwork ————$4020

The Traveler is designed to take you as far as you need to go, whether it’s a picnic on a sandbar with the family or a multi-week expedition. Nimbler than you’d expect in a 17’ canoe, its shallow bottom arc lets you easily glide across the water whether empty or heavily loaded. In many ways, the Traveler is a mellower version of the Prospector; it’s a bit more stable, a bit less pointy, and overall offers a lot of capacity for a comfortable trip. In addition, it can be fitted with an optional 3rd seat.

In spite of its ample capacity, the Traveler canoe weighs less than 60 pounds. Whether you’re transferring the canoe into the water on unstable footing, or trekking across an uneven portage, the canoes weight remains manageable even alone. Each boat is laid-up with kevlar and carbon fiber, combined to offer an excellent balance of durability, rigidity, and weight, and are wrapped in a stunning gel coat to create the most stunning canoe on the water. Cherry ribs and hardwood ash appointments from the gunnels to the yoke recall the classic look and craftsmanship of canoes in the last century, without sacrificing modern performance.

Bamboosic, carbon/kevlar, Glacier Green, Cherry&Ash woodwork———— $3040

The Baboosic is a 14’ solo canoe that offers maximum speed and agility for the most discerning paddler, in a lightweight package that can be adapted to a variety of uses, from backcountry canoe camping to freestyle canoeing performances. It accelerates quickly, maintains speed effortlessly, and turns on a dime even when loaded with gear sufficient for a long solo paddling trip. Even if you’ve been canoeing for decades, this is a boat you won’t grow out of. Critically it weighs only 40 pounds, making transfer into and out of the water quick and straightforward while operating alone. This is thanks to its hybrid construction, utilizing kevlar and carbon fiber for added impact resistance, then reinforced with cherry ribs, for a perfect blend of durability, rigidity, and weight. The hardwood gunnels, decks, handles, and seat feature an attention to detail you won’t find elsewhere, and the immaculate gel-coat outer layer looks gorgeous in any setting.
