Grumman Canoe

Canoes that fly!  Not exactly, but Grumman Canoe was the inspiration of William Hoffman, of Grumman Aircraft, after hauling wood and canvas canoes on an Adirondack fishing excursion.  In 1945 Grumman Aircraft Engineers, the top manufacturer of stretch aluminum carrier-based aircraft during WWII, built its first canoe.  Over the years the company came under the roof of the Marathon Boat Group (thus the name on the website) but the canoes are still the same wonderful, reliable boats; light, manageable, and nearly indestructible.
