NK&C COVID19 Coronavirus Actions - UPDATED

Here’s an update to what we’re doing to implement the state and local directives regarding COVID 19 and follow CDC guidelines:

Shop:

Our retail store and warehouses, including restrooms, are closed to customers and visitors.  You are welcome to visit our waterfront at no charge during the emergency, but should follow all state and local directives/guidance regarding social distancing.

We have set up an online store hosted on our existing website.  Here’s how it works:

  • Visit our website to see what we have on offer.  The top menu picks give the best view

  • Use the brand listings on our home page to see some of what’s currently in stock.  We’re still adding new categories, so call if you don’t see what you are interested in, call or e-mail.

  • If you see something you like, have a question or want us to arrange a virtual shop visit to help you make your selection, call (978-465-0312) or email (newburykayak@gmail.com).

  • Want to buy?  Call and we’ll take a credit card over the phone and arrange a curbside pickup* or a no-contact delivery.

We’ll try to have someone available on the phone Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 10-2; and Friday, Saturday and Sunday 12-4.

*NOTE:  Make sure you are picking up purchases while out for other essential errands, per Gov. Baker’s State of Emergency order.

Ensuring Stock Is Safe:

The CDC says COVID-19 is primarily spread through direct contact, mostly with particles resulting from sneezing or coughing, not contact with contaminated surfaces. Research suggests that the virus can only survive from a few hours to a few days on surfaces and the CDC says “transmission of novel coronavirus to persons from surfaces contaminated with the virus has not been documented.”

The majority of our stock in the warehouses arrives wrapped after several days in transit and generally remains untouched once it’s there.  This makes it extremely unlikely that this stock can be a carrier of the virus before it’s moved into the shop or readied for you.

Gloves are used when handling stock to maintain a “no touch” environment.

If stock does come in from customers (trade ins, etc.) it is wiped down and/or isolated for more than three days before returning it to inventory.

We ask customers who are not feeling well, particularly if they have a cough or cold, or who may have been in contact with someone who may have been exposed, to restrict any interactions to phone calls, e mail or virtual visits (call to schedule) until their self quarantine period is complete.   We can work with you to hold products if there is interest.

Finally, we want to remind everyone that outdoor activities - walks, hikes, riding bikes, and, once the water’s warmed up, canoeing, kayaking and other water sports - are great ways for families to be active, while also being relaxed in the knowledge that you are supporting your community by complying with CDC guidance.

Get outside and stay well!
